LA Home Solutions Solid & Engineered Hardwood Warranty
Congratulations on your new Hardwood flooring! We feel privileged that you have chosen us at LA Home Solutions to provide you and
your home this beautiful product for years to come.
To help you get the most out of your Hardwood floors for many years, we would like to outline for you some care instructions
and well as conditions that could result in poor aging of your product, excessive wear and tear, or worst case scenario, inhibit any warranty claims the manufacturer has provided on their product.
So please read our instructions carefully, and feel free to discuss with us any of the points outlined below for a better understanding of your Hardwood floor.
GENERAL INFORMATION
Color variations in flooring are a natural occurrence due to species, age, character of flooring and exposure to UV light
or sunlight. For these reasons, new and/or replacement flooring may not match display samples and/or existing flooring.
Due to color variations of product and/or samples, LA Home Solutions is not responsible for the consumer matching flooring
to other wood products, such as cabinets, stair railings, trim and any existing moldings.
GENERAL CARE INSTRUCTIONS
With today’s advances in wood flooring stains and finishes, cleaning your wood floors has never been easier. Regular maintenance
requires little more than sweeping with a soft bristle broom, and vacuuming with a soft floor attachment if your wood floor includes a beveled edge that could collect debris. You can also clean your floors periodically with a professional wood floor cleaning product.
Here is a summary of the Do’s and Don’t of maintaining your Hardwood Floors.
DO:
Wipe up spills immediately with paper towel or dry cloth (A damp cloth can be used for sticky spills, but dry the spot immediately
afterwards).
Vacuum, sweep or dust mop your hardwood floor once a week, or more, if needed. The vacuum head must be brush or felt, and a wand attachment is preferable (never damp mop the floor).
Use interior and exterior doormats at entrances to collect dirt and moisture and prevent it from being tracked onto the floor.
Area rugs are recommended in front of kitchen sinks, at all pivot points and within high-traffic areas. The rugs must be made of a breathable material to prevent moisture entrapment.
Place runners and area rugs (with slip-resistant backings) along high-traffic areas.
Keep animal nails trimmed to prevent finish scratches.
To prevent surface damage avoid rolling heavy appliances and furniture on the floor. Use plywood hardboard or appliance lifts, if necessary.
Use leg protector pads under all furniture legs.
Replace hard, narrow furniture rollers with wide rubber rollers.
Keep the relative humidity in your home between 35% and 55%...you may need to use a humidifier, especially in the winter months
Protect your floor from direct sunlight (sheers, blinds, etc.)
DON'T:
Do not use any of the following products (or products similar in nature) on your floor: ammonia based cleaners, acrylic finishes, wax based products, detergents, bleach, polishes and oil soaps, abrasive cleaning soaps or acidic materials such as vinegar.
Do not use sheet vinyl or tile floor care products on wood floors. Self-polishing acrylic waxes causes wood to become
slippery and appear dull quickly.
Do not wet-mop a wood floor…standing water can dull the finish, damage the wood and leave a discoloring residue.
Do not allow any water to stand on your floor for any length of time – wipe up immediately.
Walk across your floor in poorly maintained shoes with heel taps, spike heels or with any sharp object protruding from your shoe (A 125-pound woman walking in high heels has an impact of 2,000lbs per square inch. An exposed heel nail can exert up to 8,000lbs per square inch).
Do not allow furniture to rest on the floor on small metal tips or hard domes.
Do not use rubber, foam back or plastic mats as they may trap moisture and discolor your floor.
Do not use vacuums with beater bars or hard heads
When moving heavy furniture, do not slide it on wood flooring. It is best to pick up the furniture completely to prevent scratches.
WARRANTY EXCLUSIONS
There are conditions and circumstances which could impact the ability to repair a damaged floor under the manufacturer’s
warranty. Please read these exclusions carefully so that you are best prepared to maintain the warranty the product was designed
for.
Conditions that may void your warranty:
Failure to maintain the environment at a humidity range of 35% to 55% year round and a room temperature of 60º to 80ºF.
Checks, splits, delamination caused by improper environmental conditions.
Normal exposure to sunlight will bring about changes in the shading of any hardwood floor as the floor ages. Area rugs should be moved occasionally as they block sunlight and may give the appearance of discoloring under the rug. This is not a product defect.
Improper maintenance and failure to adhere to maintenance instructions outlined above.
Indentations or scratches caused by furniture, appliances, pet claws, spiked or damaged heels, pivot points, sand and pebbles or other abrasive materials.
Installation over radiant floor heating with a surface temperature in excess of 85° F.
Damage due to water and/or moisture including but not limited to damage resulting from broken or leaking pipes, wet mopping weather conditions or natural disasters is excluded from warranties.
Insect infestation is not warrantable.
Abuse, neglect, abnormal use or misuse, application of solvents, corrosives, or other chemicals, etc. improper cleaning or maintenance products.
Squeaking or popping sounds on stapled or nail down products is not a defect and not covered under warranties.
Product variation less than 5% (industry standard variation) is not a product defect.
Hardwood is a natural product and will change colour when exposed to light. Colour variations and gloss reduction are a natural occurrence in flooring due to age, species, and exposure to UV light. For example, use of area rugs on top of Hardwood Flooring may cause uneven color variations. As such, colour variations are not covered under any warranty.
Hardwood flooring is produced from natural products; therefore all wood floors will expand and contract from humidity level changes. This expanding and contracting is not covered under any warranty. Humidity below 30% will cause spaces, humidity above 50% can cause cupping, cracking, and buckling of the hardwood floor.
