BEFORE & AFTER: Golden Oak Cabinets

​One of the most common questions I get is - what type of flooring should I select to coordinate with golden oak cabinets? Sometimes the budget doesn’t allow for you to paint or change your cabinets but you still want your space to look updated.

Because oak can look a bit busy I usually suggest finding a more solid wood floor in a light or a dark finish that lightly pulls in the oak color but modernizes it with a deeper brown, grey or white tone. This allows the space to look tied together and not too busy with competing wood grains.
In this home we switched out the main floor carpet and linoleum for a wide plank vinyl throughout with just a touch of a golden distressing that helped tie everything together.
