As humans we change in many ways, and sometimes we want our space to reflect that. Do any of you remember when the colour combination “hot pink/Lime green” was the hottest thing? I do, and at the age of 12 I felt so cool with my Lime green bedroom walls and pink carpet.
A favorite saying of mine is “I am not what I have done, I am what I have overcome.” – author unknown.
Whether it be growing up, reaching a new state of mind, moving into a new place, or the space is damaged and needs some TLC. We want our spaces to reflect us and what we have done.
Flooring is a fantastic “update” that can change a whole room’s atmosphere without spending a fortune. There are so many flooring options to
choose from: Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT), Luxury Vinyl Plant (LVP), Tile, Hardwood, Capet, Cork, Laminate, Linoleum, etc.… No matter what product you are looking at, there are always price ranges, varieties of colour, and styles.
So how do you decide? Here are 4 easy steps to help you:
Where is this space located in your home? Certain materials work better in different environments, and by taking into account the room usage you can narrow down your search. You would not want a hardwood floor in a space that was regularly wet as hardwood expands and contracts, becomes soft when wet and can begin cupping, however a hardwood floor could be just what you want in a bedroom or dinning room.
Consider what do you want your space to reflect.
What happens in this space, is it lively, quiet, just for storage, or in a high traffic area. Different materials hold up better than others in certain situations. A glue down luxury vinyl tile(LVT) can sometime begin cupping in front of a large window due to the heat – A click version could work to a better advantage for that room.
What is currently installed.
What does your current floor look like, some flooring types can be installed over already existing flooring, while others you may have to remove and apply directly to the sub floor. This can take your project a lot longer to complete and cost more then you had planned for.
What is your price.
Everyone has an ideal price they find reasonable to spend, each floor type has their own price ranges. At LA Home Solutions we can show you many different pricing options for each flooring type. At that point we can then weigh the differences between each product to find the perfect product for your budget
